A new exhibition called A Million Miracles, co-produced by Panos Pictures and Sightsavers and photographed by Andrew McConell in Pakistan, has opened next to City Hall on More London Riverside, a public space next to the Mayor’s office.
Since 1950, Sightsavers has been working to eliminate avoidable blindness and support those who are irreversibly blind or disabled to allow them to live independent lives. Sightsavers’ A Million Miracles campaign, its biggest ever, aims to fund one million operations that restore, save and protect people’s sight in some of the poorest parts of the world.
Andrew McConnell travelled with Sightsavers to Pakistan where he documented the experiences of three individuals – Kausar Shaheen, Murtaza Ghulum and Zamurrad Bibi – to show how a simple, cheap operation can transform lives.
The exhibition will be open to the public until 30 October 2017.
