Akos Stiller was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1982. From 2007 he worked as a staff photojournalist for Heti Világgazdaság (HVG), Hungary's leading economic and political weekly, for more than 10 years. Currently Akos takes assignments for the New York Times, National Geographic, CNN, Spiegel, Stern, Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, Le Monde and Washington Post amongst others.
Over the years Akos has won 22 awards in the Hungarian Pictures of the Year, and was selected for the prestigious Joop Swart Masterclass in 2014, organised by World Press Photo. With his picture story on the Hungarian farmlands Akos was awarded a first place in feature picture story category in the Pictures of the Year International (POYi) in 2015. Since becoming a National Geographic Explorer, Akos has been documenting the conservation of the red-footed falcons in Angola and Hungary.
At the end of the 1940s more than a million inhabitants lived in the Hungarian Farmlands.
