"Life itself is difficult, all over the world. I think people experience the same problems everywhere."
The recent conflict in northern Mali caused more than 440,000 people to flee their homes and exacerbated the effects of a drought that has devastated the region since 2011. With funding from the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO), the International Rescue Committee provided life-saving treatment for 1,600 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition. Efforts to prevent and treat malnutrition have so far reached 80,000 children in the country.
